چکیده

Abstract We propose a triple-star scenario where the merger of two pre-main-sequence low-mass stars, ?0.5 M ? , ejects dusty equatorial outflow that obscures and temporarily causes disappearance massive star, ?8 . The inner binary powers faint outburst, i.e., intermediate luminosity optical transient (ILOT), but its main effect can last for decades is to (almost) disappear luminous star triple system. typical orbital period system about 1 yr. process proceeds as more-massive stars starts transfer mass least-massive in result expands. This type II obscuring ILOT might account fading, rebrightening, then refading post-main-sequence M101-OC1. It recover 20–100 Our study strengthens claim there are alternative scenarios disappearing removing need failed supernovae. In these temporary, lasting from months decades, therefore at later time explodes core collapse supernova, even if it forms black hole.

Luminosity versus Rotation in a Supermassive Star

We determine the effect of rotation on the luminosity of supermassive stars. We apply the Roche model to calculate analytically the emitted radiation from a uniformly rotating, radiation-dominated supermassive configuration. We find that the luminosity at maximum rotation, when mass at the equator orbits at the Kepler period, is reduced by ∼ 36% below the usual Eddington luminosity from the cor...

A Hierarchical Triple Star System in M 4

The radio millisecond pulsar PSR B1620−26 is part of an extraordinary triple star system in the globular cluster M4. The inner companion to the neutron star is thought to be a white dwarf of mass m1 ≃ 0.3M⊙ in an orbit of period ≃ 0.5 yr. The nature and orbital characteristics of the second, more distant companion, have remained a mystery for many years. A theoretical analysis of the latest ava...

a star identification algorithm based on a voting scheme for star trackers

star identification is one of the most important stages in attitude determination with star trackers. this can be performed using matching algorithms between observed stars and a master star catalogue. the main challenge in this approach is to provide a fast and reliable identification algorithm that is sufficiently robust in different pointing views of the star tracker optical system in the sp...

[o Ii] as a Tracer of Current Star Formation

[O ii] 3727 A is often used as a tracer of star formation at intermediate redshifts (z > 0:4), where H is not easily observed. We use the spectrophotometric data of the Nearby Field Galaxy Survey to investigate the range and systematic variation in observed [O ii]/H emission line ratio as a function of galaxy luminosity at low redshift. We nd that the observed [O ii]/H ratio varies by a factor ...

The Young Star Cluster System in the Antennae: Evidence for a Turnover in the luminosity function

The luminosity functions (LFs) of star cluster systems (i.e. the number of clusters per luminosity interval) are vital diagnostics to probe the conditions of star cluster formation. Early studies have revealed a clear dichotomy between old globular clusters and young clusters, with the former characterised by Gaussian-shaped LFs, and the latter following a power law. Recently, this view was cha...
